Why buy directly from a local farm?

When comparing store-bought meat to farm-raised meat, the primary difference is that farm-raised meat usually comes from smaller, local farms where animals are often raised in more natural conditions with a better diet, resulting in potentially higher quality, better flavor, and more nutrients compared to mass-produced store-bought meat which may come from large factory farms with less emphasis on animal welfare and natural feeding practices. Not only should we be talking about the meat we consume, but we should also consider our produce! Look for non-GMO and no pesticides. Just because it says “organic” in the big box store, it may not be really organic.
Let’s support our local farmers (not those big box stores) and eat healthier instead! Not just talking about meat here, we can also purchase vegetables, fruits, grains and eggs! Our bodies do not need these extra hormones, antibiotics and other chemicals. While it may be more expensive, but will be way better for you and your family in the long run…way cheaper than a hefty medical bill due to a poor diet in the future. Another idea is to split the cost with another family member or neighbor.
Where can I go to find a better alternative you ask? Check out your local farmers markets, local family-owned farms such as All Grass Farms in Dundee, Rustic Road Farm in Elburn, Atrina Farms in Elburn (farm stand), Elder Oaks (plants/vegetables) in St. Charles, Mighty Greens Farm in Elburn (produce/greens), just to name a few here in Kane County.
